Despite the important role the working waterfront plays in our economy, national security and quality of life, its future is threatened by proposals to build condominiums, sports stadiums and other projects that are not compatible with industrial land use. Water dependent businesses can only exist on the waterfront. Unlike these other land uses, working waterfront businesses have no place else to go.
WWG is a coalition of water-dependent businesses committed to preserving the industry's positive contributions – including family-supporting jobs – to the region's economy, security and environment. The group is administered by the San Diego Port Tenants Association in cooperation with the Port of San Diego and the AFL/CIO.
